Dear Grandkids…

Hello, my dear grandchildren. If you are reading this, it means that I have left this world and joined your grandmother in heaven. I hope you are not too sad, because I lived a long and happy life, and I want you to do the same.

I recorded this message for you because I wanted to tell you how much I love you and how proud I am of you. You are the best thing that ever happened to me, and I cherish every moment we spent together. You brought so much joy and laughter to my life, and I hope I did the same for you.

I remember when you were little, and we used to play in the backyard. You would run around with your toy cars and dolls, and I would pretend to be a monster and chase you. You would scream and giggle, and then hug me and say "I love you, grandpa". That was the sweetest sound in the world to me.

I remember when you started school, and you would show me your drawings and homework. You were so smart and creative, and I was so impressed by your skills and talents. You would ask me to help you with your math problems, and I would try to explain them to you. Sometimes I would make a mistake, and you would correct me and say "No, grandpa, that's not how you do it". That was the funniest thing in the world to me.

I remember when you grew up, and you had your dreams and passions. You wanted to be a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, a musician, a writer, a scientist, a chef, a pilot, a firefighter, a superhero. You had so many goals and ambitions, and I was so supportive of you. You would tell me about your plans and achievements, and I would listen and cheer you on. Sometimes you would face challenges and setbacks, and I would comfort you and say "Don't worry, grandpa is here for you". That was the most important thing in the world to me.

Now you are adults, and you have your own lives and families. You are amazing people, and I am so proud of you. You have made me happy beyond words, and I hope I have made you happy too. You have given me more than I could ever ask for, and I hope I have given you enough. You are my legacy, and I hope I have left you a good one.

I want you to know that I will always be with you, in your hearts and memories. I want you to be happy, and live your lives to the fullest. I want you to be kind, and help others in need. I want you to be brave, and face your fears. I want you to be yourself, and follow your dreams. I want you to be happy, and make others happy too.

And I want you to remember one thing: no matter what happens, no matter where you go, no matter how old you get, you will always be my little munchkins. And I will always be your grandpa. The one who loves you more than anything in the world. The one who will always be there for you. The one who will always make you laugh. Even when I'm gone.

Especially when I'm gone.

Because you know what they say: the best way to honor the dead is to make fun of them. So go ahead, make fun of me. Make fun of my bald head, my big nose, my bad jokes, my snoring, my dancing, my singing, my cooking, my driving, my everything. Make fun of me, and laugh with me. And remember me.

Remember me, and love me. As I remember you, and love you.

Goodbye, my dear grandchildren. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. And I hope I was the best thing that ever happened to you.

Your loving grandpa.
